Shri Jaydev Das 'ABHINAV" died on August 2,2005 at the age of 91.
Shri Jaydev Babu was an icon,legendary figure and a true hero in all sense of the terms of our Karn Kayasth Samaj.He was a freedom fighter who was jailed for 6years in KALKOTHARI in 1942 but was released after serving jail term of about 3 years in December 1945 along with other freedom fighters.He was a poet,writer,translator,research scholar and an able administrator.He has to his credit about 15 books and some of them are rare classics namely'MEGHDOOT', 'GEETAMRIT' ,'ISHMAYJAGAT' ,'GEETA TATWA TARANGNI'.All these books have been forwarded by eminent Scholars like Late Prime Minister P.V.Narsimharao,Late President Shanker dayal Sharma,Dr.Karan Singh and Shri vasant Sathe amongst others.These books had also received acclaim from all quarters.During his jail term he had translated Karl Marx's CAPITAL into Hindi which has a forward by late Jai Prakash Narayan and is reported to be the first Hindi translation of the Book.He has written and was fluent in Maithali,Hindi and English.
Shri Jaydev Babu was also a recipient of UN fellowship and had stayed and traveled extensively in USA and other countries in 1951-52.He was a member of Bihar Administrative Service and retired as Joint secy in 1978.
Shri Jaydev Babu was a very simple man and always wanted to help everybody with his sound advice.A widower ,he leaves behind two younger brothers,(Shri Rajdev Das and Dr. Narendra) three sons and a large number of nephew,nieces and grand children.My wife Meenu happens to be his grand daughter and my father-in-law Shri Devendra Kishore Das'Kanahiyaji' his nephew.
